Running from the Cottage in the woods

Mark and Jenny took another look at the cottage in the woods over the weekend. They met the owner of the property and were given information that made us decide to run, not walk, from the cottage in the woods.

As my husband likes to say, owners can give information that Realtors would never disclose. This owner provided information without knowing the affect the it would have. The guy was just being chatting and honest. Mark and Jen said he was nice and we would probably have bought the property had he not told them one piece of disturbing information.

The information has nothing to do with the condition of the property or the neighbors the current owner refers to as the groundhogs. Apparently these neighbors, the groundhogs, live in a RV roadside and use the path and stairs to the water edge as their own. The current owner has caught the groundhogs numerous times trespassing and has had to report them to the town for living in the RV, which the groundhogs have been forced to move, recently, and this has taken care of the groundhog problem.

The disturbing information has to do with the previous owner that the current owner bought the property from. The cottage in the woods was in foreclosure and had 2 parcels of land attached to it. One parcel the cottage occupies went with the cottage when it was sold at the foreclosure auction. The other parcel, which is next door to the cottage property, the previous owner managed to keep. Which may not appear to be alarming, disturbing, and many people may so so what.

The problem is the previous owner is a convicted felon. Again some may say so what, he did his jail time and should be given a second chance. Normally I would be one of those liberal bleeding heart do gooders. But not this time, not with this guy. This guy should have been killed when was convicted. Not an easy killing either, torturous and as painful as possible would have been best. This type of criminal I will not give a second chance. There is no other solution to this guy's problem other than death.

He was convicted of child pornography. Hundreds of photos. Just because he was not convicted of molestation does not mean he has not, and will not do it. My view and belief is if he has child porn on his computer he has molested but has not been caught. Death is the only answer.

So wait, this convincted felon is living close to the cottage? Um, yeah - that's going to be a hard sell.

well he is not living there now, but he can in the future. Not sure if he is in a half way house waiting to be completely free or what. Becasue the guy is not a level 3 offender we are not entitled to know his where abouts or status. The neighbors and schools will not be notified either.

If it were me, I would purchase the cottage, along with an automatic weapon, and just see, ya know, what happens...

Yeah, that's worse than the septic problem. Way worse.

Makes you wonder - what the heck was the seller thinking??? His stupidity is your gain!

Or.... would he have any reason to discourage the sale? Is there a divorce involved?

Just wonder'in.

AB: no divorice, he and his wife have all ready pruchased a large house on the lake. I think the guy was just being chatty and did not realize the impact theinformation would have. We also just found out that someone else is looking to buy that property and build a new cottage on it. One that is closer to the 300 foot cliff.
