A guy I know came for dinner last night, he works in a pizzeria that G man and I frequent. We were told a story that curdled my stomach and prompted me to call the health inspector this morning.
Perhaps some of you know that the price of flour has increased from around $11.00 to $30.00, which is a very hefty increase for a small pizzeria. Of course the cost increase gets passed to the consumer, but what else is new. The owner of the pizzeria "bought in" 150 sacks of flour before the price increase went in to effect. He saved some money, increased the cost of the pizza, and decreased the sizes too. So he will make a a nice margin until the 150 sacks of flour run out. Which may be sooner then he thought.
According to "the guy" RATS (not mice) got into some of the sacks of flour. A moral ethical person would throw the flour out in the garbage, call an exterminator, and take precautions so the RATs ( not mice) could not get into the flour again. But not this owner, he ordered the employees to SIFT the flour to capture the RAT TURDS and use the flour for the pizza.
I want to vomit right now. The health inspector I spoke with this morning was even grossed out and said she thought she had seen everything, but this is a new one. YUCK!!!!
The owner also owns a Bar B Q place that we eat at often. Well used to, I will not go to either place again. It's sad because the owner is a friend of ours, is very active in the community, extremely charitable, well liked and respected. I'll never want to socialize with him again. And I will always wonder how many other gross things he has done to pinch a penny and make his profit margin larger. I'll always think of him as a dirty RAT. I question his sincerity to the community.

You almost made me hurl. That is disgusting. We had some family who were fighting us about throwing out some wheat that some mice had gotten into. (we were cleaning their house when we discovered it) I rarely raise my voice to my elders but I did to him when he told me he didn't need to throw it out and it was perfectly good wheat to which I replied "that a MOUSE has gotten into" and he said "so" I don't think I'll eat anything made from flour from their house.
That is way past disgusting, you did the right thing calling in the health folks.

That's gross, but for a moment let's ignore the sifting out of the turds. Aren't rats and mice creatures that are designed to piss when they eat? Can't exactly get rid of pissy flour, no matter how fine a sieve you use.
