My cavalier is a little neurotic. He squeaks like a chimpanzee if we stop for a moment on our walks, he crys if we stop at a red light while in the car, barks non stop if Jack ( our chocolate lab) has a toy that he wants, runs to the car and dances in a circle if he thinks we are going for a ride. But I love him.
He is a sweet dog that likes to cuddle and snuggle. Very intelligent and communicative. Gentle with our other dogs, and with children. But he does not like loud noises.
Greg decided to blow off some of the inventory of fireworks he has for the 4th of July. All the dogs ran for cover inside the cottage. Poor Belvedere was so scared he hid in the computer desk.

Poor Belvedere. The bigger they come they more they hide. Big babies, but so cute.
Zed: belvedere is large for his breed. He is suppose to be 4" shorter and 20lbs lighter. It must be the water here. All our dogs and family memebers are larger the we are suppose to be.
I had a friend who had to give her doggie downers on the 4th, otherwise he'd tear out eight feet worth of fence board trying to escape. Have you tried that?
I don't really have anything to offer, but I just don't like not joining in...

Our old female lab mix that passed away last year was terrible around the 4th. She just shook and shook.
Apparently this fear reaction isn't found only in dogs. When I was a child, I used to shake and cover my head and ears at July 4th celebrations, and if parade was passing by I bolted when the big drums passed. What a moron. :)

Poor Belvedere! This will by Daisy's (female Cav) first 4th that I'll remember. Last year was a whirlwind and she was just a baby.
Belvedere sounds like Cory (male Cav). He barks non stop at the pool when the Golden is trying to play fetch with someone.
*Very* relaxing. NOT!
Our cats go nuts every July 4th. Maybe we should dose them with catnip next year.
